Bali, Indonesia

I didn’t really enjoy my time in Bali. I don’t think I will be going back. It seemed like such a strange island. Such immense poverty right next to such intense wealth. There were these little pockets where the tourists would go to have a good time, but in-between life seemed so tragic. People living in cardboard boxes. Litter everywhere. As a foreigner, it felt almost distasteful to want to have fun or eat at nice restaurants. While tourism is meant to bring people and places out of poverty, it didn’t seem to be working in Bali. Maybe it only works for a select few. On top of that the traffic was truly the worst I have experienced in the world and most of the locals seemed only to care about getting your money. While some of the pictures you see below may look nice, bear in mind that not everything is what it seems.
