At the start of 2019, while in India, I met Russ. And my life took a turn. I went from shooting stills professionally half the time to shooting film professionally all of the time. The transition definitely involved some fast learning: Russ threw me in at the deep end. It was my first project for National Geographic and it was on baby animals. We filmed three parts of a six part series. First were the baby cheetahs. Baby cheetahs we drove fourteen hours straight for, only to miss their birth by 45 minutes. If we had been there, we would have been the first team to ever capture a wild cheetah birth on camera. Still, there wasn’t much to complain about - filming newborn wild cheetahs for a living is pretty close to as good as it gets.
