YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA (October, 2017)

Spontaneous trips are the best. But, because they are so last minute, they are usually not very well planned out. We didn't have any camping gear and all accommodation in the park had been booked up weeks in advance. So, we decided we would drive down just for the day. Four and a half hours out, four and a half back. And I wanted to see the sunrise, so that meant leaving at 02:30. Eight of us agreed to go, but in the end only four showed up. We arrived just before sunrise and headed out to a lookout point a short walk from the road. As the smoke from the forest fires caught the light from the rising sun, the horizon turned all colours of the rainbow. I've never really seen anything quite like purple haze.
